    Ferocactus cylindraceus var. lecontei commonly known as the Red Barrel Cactus, is a barrel cactus that is native to the American Southwest and northern Mexico.

    Found growing in rich well-draining soil on south facing slopes, canyon walls, and gravelly or rocky foothills to protect the growing tip from frost.

    Any needles (modified leaves) that fall off your plant will grow back quickly.

    Under extreme environmental conditions, it may be necessary to apply frost cloth in winter & shade cloth in summer in order to protect your plant.
